Poll / Atlas Junction

The poll is the area at the top of your horses head. The poll / atlas junction is the junction between the first cervical vertebrae, the atlas, and the occiput (the back of your horse’s skull).

This junction is arguably the most important of the four key junctions of the horse when looking at performance.

When we look at the horse in its entirety and recognise the connectivity of the structures we can appreciate how pain and tension anywhere in the horse’s body will be reflected in the poll.

  • Does your horse feel stiffer through one side of their neck?

  • Does your horse resist flexion or feel resistant to the bit?

  • Is your horse less willing and able to perform at their best?

If this sounds like your horse and you want to help them get back to performing at their best why not click this link and give us a call.
